the following is just an idea, about creating an islamic shelter - if anyone, at any point later on decides to take this idea on, insha Allah, please do so
Islamic Shelter
As i noticed that there aren't any Islamic shelters where i live (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), at least to my knowledge, the following idea came to me, all thanks to Allah:
1. Bare minimum of $60,000 monthly would be needed to
a: Provide $300 in order to feed each person monthly (monthly capasity 100 people - $30,000)
b: Pay minimum wage to one or two cooks ($800 monthly each)
c: Rent a large place that would be able to house 100 people ($5,000 monthly)
d: Provide adequate beds + pillow + blanket (not sure of the cost)
e: Provide 10 showers for each gender (not sure of the cost)
f: Provide 10 washrooms for each gender (not sure of the cost)
g: A minimum allowance of $500 for educational activities for people in shelter
h: Estimated $1,000 monthly to educate about Islam (no compulsion)
i: Create and display large posters of Dua's and verses of Qur'an ($500 yearly)
J: Create and maintain a drug rehab section where Qur'an will be played all day long ($400 monthly)
k: Offer free job training (if possible, through partners) + job assistance ($2,000 monthly)
L: Provide activities for children in shelter + $1,000 extra monthly for better nurishment
m: Provide basic medicine (roughly estimated $2,000 monthly)
n: Provide water all year long (roughly estimated $4,000 monthly)
o: Provide basic air conditioning when temperatures skyrocket in summer ($4,000 yearly)
p: Estimated $1,000 monthly for electrisity (rough estimate)
Overall total so far - $52,200 monthly - everything is a rough estimate
I don't know how to get it started/done, nor do i have the finances, so ideas, suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes i wonder where all that money that the city takes for taxes goes, and i'm left with - $8,000 for coctail party, $4,000 for airplane ticket: Stupidity, Ignorance, and a Total Waste in City Hall!
